Two men have been arrested on suspicion of stealing diesel from lorries after they were spotted by an off-duty officer.
The two men were arrested while driving a 44-tonne lorry on the A12 near Brentwood.
A spokesperson from Essex Police said: "Police were contacted shortly before 2.15pm today, Wednesday November 29, with reports of two men acting suspiciously in a layby on the A12 between junctions 11 and 12 near Brentwood.
"Officers attended, and two men aged 22 and 45, both of no fixed address, were arrested on suspicion of theft from a vehicle.
"They are currently in custody for questioning."
Sergeant Colin Shead, of the Essex Police force, posted a Tweet praising the team who caught the men.
